PNC Park Rivendale

Pittsburgh Pirates Rivendale Patio Garden

WallacePancher Group (WPG) completed plans for the Rivendale Patio Garden at PNC park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The design called for produce that could be featured in dishes served at the ballpark, sustainable materials and practices, and an artful layout of space for growing, education and events. The planting features a variety of fruits and vegetables grown in very large containers made of recycled steel. A recycled steel rainwater harvesting tank provides water for the garden from an adjacent rooftop. Louisville Slugger bats were custom made for the pirates to serve as the tomato stakes and bean tee-pee. Finally, a greenhouse/ potting shed was provided.

WPG prepared conceptualization, construction documents, cost estimates and participated in stakeholder meetings throughout the course of the project.
